Meet the REAL You
“Hello Me. Meet the real me.” – Megadeth
That new you is really within you, it’s the person you always wanted to be, the one who you dreamed of being but somehow just never showed up. That new you has always been there but is now likely buried so deep inside of the person you have become. But I am encouraging you to find that new you. Let me give you a hint, it’s not the person you see in the mirror. Over the next few weeks we are going to discuss beginning again, starting anew, becoming a brighter, happier, stronger person by discovering the REAL you.
Quite likely that will mean changing your ways. Very few of us remain the person we always wanted to be and perhaps should have been. I mean there is only an infinitesimally small percentage who have never, or rarely taken action contrary to their true being. Only a small handful of the almost 7 billion people on this planet are still able to say, “I am me, unwavering and true!” Most of us will need to make some changes.
“I’m talking to the man in the mirror. I’m asking him to change his ways. If you want to make the world a better place, just look at yourself and make that change.” – Michael Jackson
These are profound words that were way ahead of their time. We are approaching an era of enlightenment. If it’s any wonder why we believed MJ was a little of his rocker. It has to be the possibility that he was enlightened before enlightenment was cool. We as a society are ready to see things the way MJ did. We can be true to ourselves by listening to that little voice that tells us everything we need to know. Every answer comes from within, by asking for advice or guidance and truly listening to the response, you too can become a whole new you.
Now some of you may be saying things like, “I am true to myself.” Or, “I am the person I wanted to be.” Not so. Not for any one of us. Each of us has compromised at some point. Now compromise is a part of life, but it is when we compromise our principles that we bury that special person just a little more. Throw some more dirt over that existence making it that much harder to dig it up. That person we dream of becoming from a young age is further and further down the older we get. This is an unfortunate fact of aging.
We always dreamed that we were going to be happy and healthy, enjoying life to the fullest. I’m not sure about you, but I know that as a lad, I was going to be a rich man, who could do anything I wanted because I could afford to do so. In that way I envy President-Elect Donald Trump. He is himself, never compromising, one of the few that can boast, “I am me!” He may be brash, appear arrogant and rather a philandering sexist fool, but he is true to himself. If he wants something, he goes for it.
Do you have to be a pompous ass to become strong and powerful? Not at all. Stick to your guns. Hold fast to your principles. That is the path to confidence and enlightenment. That is our ultimate goal in remaining or becoming that hidden person. Be true to yourself. Be true to your dreams. How? After all life is harsh, troublesome, painful, compromising, these are the facts of life. At some point we are going to be unhappy, disappointed and must do something we just don’t want to do.
If you want to remain true to yourself it takes something that I have mentioned before, just one word…INTEGRITY. If we are who we were meant to be at every given moment, resilient yet unyielding and capable of greatness then we can always be true to ourselves. Then how can we get back to being that person when we have altered our path by continuous compromise? We need to rediscover ourselves. We need to begin again on a new platform with renewed faith and direction. We need to find our reason why.
Why do you do those things you do? Why did you compromise in the first place? If you took those actions guided by your why then chances are you are still somewhat close to being the person you always wanted to be. Moving forward, you can get back to becoming that person if only you act according to your why, at the very least you may once again head in the right direction.
I am hoping that 2107 might introduce you to the real you. It is my intention to help you find yourself. Who you are, where you are going and what you can do to get there. This is the first step. Find the REAL YOU! So I now insist that you STOP here and give some serious consideration of YOUR WHY! WHY? Why do you live your life, get up every morning, work and slave to earn some money? Why do you make the decision that affect your life? Why are you still hoping for more? Why do you want to become better?
Ask yourself these questions. Better yet, ask whatever force you believe is guiding your life onward. Then spend some quite time reflecting on these questions and listen to the answers you will receive. The Universe (GOD), whatever your guiding force may be will “Talk to you.” You just have to be willing to listen.
Now…Consider your WHY?
